It's bad enough that faux painter and decorator posh boycub Matt Cardle is dating his X Factor stylist - and sorry boys, it's a woman - but what's worse is that she is reputed to be responsible for encouraging him to stop dressing in his trademark casual style (i.e. he looks like a cub) and to go for an 'edgier' style.

This would appear to mean a range of odd shirts and trousers and a selection of cheap-looking interview suits and bouffing his hair up instead of cropping it and encouraging a slightly thicker beard. This woman should be stopped. (Apparently the whole story about Matt dating his stylist is tabloid lies, as per.)

Shayne Ward has a new album to promote

...not that I'm complaining. Still on 26, five years on from winning the X Factor, Shayne Ward is pulling out all the stops to promote his new album after his Cowell-enforced absence from planet pop.

The ironic thing is, it seems from interviews that Shayne thinks a) this is to promote prostate and testicular cancer awareness (Everyman) b) this is for his female fans.

White Lies announce Ritual

Cute but angsty heavy pop band White Lies have announced their new album, Ritual, will be released on 17 January 2011.

The first single from the album, Bigger Than Us, will be out on 3 January.

Their debut album, To Lose My Life, was released in January 2009 selling just under a million copies worldwide.

I confess to having no idea who 'Brit actor Matt Kennard' is but it appears he is best known for daytime TV soap Doctors (which he has now left) and I have seen a photo that strongly suggests that he (and his twin brother Sam) appeared as Sons of Elrond in The Lord of the Rings.

Anyway, he's on the cover of the new isue of Attitude active. I have recently been featuring the main Attitude cover but this month it's Stephen Fry. National Treasure? Yes. Cubby or sexy? No.

PS: Matt needs to stop clippering his chest. I quite like the look but would like to see him with some fur.

I've only just become aware of the Australian underwear brand Mensfit.

They certainly haven't created the same global buzz as AussieBum have managed, and clearly aren't quite as good at selling sexy Aussie men in pants and trunks as their more internationally famous rivals, but this item from their range is especially 'must have' - the sports jock.

As well as revealing that they briefly considered changing their name to The English to give them a fresh start marking the return of the dreaded Robbie Williams, the band have revealed the album artwork for their new album Progress.

Echoing the famous evolutionary 'ascent of man' the band appear to be naked, starting from a primal crouching Gary Barlow, through Mark, Robbie, Howard and finally Jason as the most evolved - alas this appears to include his having been neutered. Obviously they didn't have the balls to go all the way.

Now that would have been a cover.

The album cover is rereshingly different to the look featured in the band's first single from the album, The Flood.

I'm not sure quite why the fact that Lancashire cricketer James Anderson appears naked in the October issue of Attitude has made the mainstream media in such a big way, considering that Attitude and GT magazines have regularly been featuring increasingly prominent male celebrities in various states of undress for several months.

In any case, I'm just pleased that the handsome Anderson - long a favourite of CUBLAND -  has chosen to do and say what he has in the name of combatting homophobia in sport - although with the recent retirement of Andrew Flintoff, it doesn't do Jimmy's public profile any harm...

[I have taken the unusual step of buying this month's Attitude, something I no longer do an on a regular basis - partly because two of my friends are featured in an article - and I must say that the Jimmy Anderson pictures are well worth the money.
